The UN Resident Coordinator's Office
The Resident Coordinator Office (RCO) supports the United Nations Resident Coordinator, who provides strategic leadership to the United Nations Country Team (UNCT).
At the country level, the RCO plays a central role in coordinating UN operational activities for development. It ensures that UN support is fully aligned with Eswatini’s national priorities and capacity‑building needs, while advancing internationally agreed commitments, including the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. By fostering coherence and collaboration, the RCO positions the UN system at the centre of development efforts and international cooperation in Eswatini.
The RCO facilitates the UN’s collective engagement through the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2026–2030, which guides joint action with the Government to accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals.
To strengthen collaboration and efficiency, the UNCT is supported by inter‑agency working groups that advance joint planning and implementation under the Delivering as One approach. This ensures coherence across the UN system and maximizes the impact of development support.
All members of the UN Country Team are accountable both to their respective organizations and to the Resident Coordinator for delivering results outlined in the UNSDCF. This collective accountability reinforces the UN’s commitment to transparency, efficiency, and measurable progress in support of Eswatini’s national development agenda.
