United Nations Eswatini Common Country Analysis 2025
The Eswatini United Nations Country Team (UNCT), in consultation with the Government of the Kingdom17 of Eswatini has kick-started the process of formulating a new United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) for the period 2026-2030. One of the critical stages in this process is the Common Country Analysis (CCA).
The purpose of Eswatini CCA 2025 is to provide systematic forward-looking insights to guide the development of the new UNSDCF. The six guiding principles of the UNSDCF (CF) are the foundation of the CCA. These include Leave No One Behind, Human Rights-based approach, Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment, Resilience, Sustainability, as well as Accountability. These guiding principles are integrated throughout the CCA and will be integrated in the CF process. The CCA 2025 will be reviewed annually, through stakeholder consultations, and updated according to emerging social, economic and environmental realities of Eswatini.
The Eswatini CCA 2025 articulates the country context, challenges and opportunities facing Eswatini. The CCA is largely informed by the situational analysis that the Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini and members of the UNCT have undertaken in preparation of the National Development Plan 2023/2024 – 2027/2028 and the Second Voluntary National Review (VNR) Report 2022. The parties recognize that scenario planning and foresight need to be embedded to guide resilience-building and adaptive planning.
